Chris owner and manager is very helpful---a genuine nice guy He is prepared to take one to activities for a small fee for his charity which is helping the kids of Rotorua
Some of the backpackers do not clear up after themselves in the kitchen--a pity

I had a fantastic stay at Crash Palace Backpackers! The staff, especially Max, were friendly and helpful. The decor of the hostel was tastefully done and the rooms were clean and spacious. Plus, the location couldn't be better, with easy access to central attractions. I also enjoyed socializing on the terrace and the bonus laundry service was a nice touch. I highly recommend this hostel for a great stay in Rotorua.

Not much .... Location in Rotorua?
Noisiest hostel i've been staying in nz. Not really clean, I tried to boil some water for tea and found a dozen of ants inside my cup, also tried the microwave but not working. Bed not comfortable either.

Warm welcome, clean, airy room with high standards. Surpassed expectations. Will be returning.

Helpful service.
There was a school group so the kids were quite noisey but I thought quieter than drunken backpackers so I should be appreciative but it made the stay less enjoyable than the usual backpacker/international traveller feel.

The bathrooms were always clean and well-maintained, and the rooms were spacious and had plenty of sockets. The hostel had a great atmosphere, with a cozy living and dining room where I could relax and socialize with other guests. Had an awesome Easter weekend at this backpackers! the atmosphere was great, and we met a lot of fun and friendly people from all over the world. the location was perfect, just a short walk from the main attractions and activities. the common areas were clean and cozy, and we especially enjoyed using the free pasta and rice to cook our meals. the organic vegetable garden was a pleasant surprise, and we even got to use herbs and spices picked from it in our cooking!
The noise level at the hostel was a bit high at night, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Some staff members were not very helpful with solving issues, but the overall experience was still enjoyable.
